Ligplot - Developed, continuously maintained and upgraded by Roman Laskowski & Janet Thornton, this program for creating 2D images of ligands bound to their cognate proteins remains one of the most popular programs of x-ray crystallographers, NMR spectroscopists and Protein Modellers with an interest in small molecule interactions. Ideal for use in the pharmaceutical, biotech and agrochemical industries.

SSAP, Cathedral and Cora - Structure based sequence alignment was revolutionised when the SSAP program was published for the automated alignment of 3D structures. Cathedral is the latest implementation of this groundbreaking software and Cora allows multiple alignments to be built from several 3D structures. Ideal for generating high quality alignments for all protein families even those with distant relatives such as protein kinases, serine proteinases, aspartyl proteases, and now GPCRs.

Pharmaceutical Focus

Threader3 - The original threading program published by Prof David Jones, Prof Janet Thornton and Dr William Taylor in Nature, 1992.

mGenthreader - A faster form of threading designed to find distant homologues rather than unrelated proteins with the same fold.

Memsat3 - The latest release of this popular membrane topology prediction program.

Disopred2 -The latest release of this popular program for prediction regions of disorder in proteins.

PSI-PRED Webserver - This webserver, based at UCL, provides access to Psi-pred, Memsat3, mGenThreader and Disopred2. An ideal solution if you do not want to maintain your own in-house systems

Genomics & Bioinformatics Focus

Naccess - Developed by Simon Hubbard & Janet Thornton, this program calculates absolute and relative surface accessibilities. The program can also be used in conjunction with Ligplot to provide information on buried and accessible residues

PDBsumProprietary - PDBsum is one of the worlds most popular web sites for viewing protein 3D structures and ligand complexes deposited in the Protein Data Bank. Our soon to be launched PDBsumProprietary enables companies to organise and disseminate proprietary structural data throughout their organisation using the same technology.

AbysisProprietary - Monoclonal antibody design and humanisation is becoming increasingly sophisticated. Abysis is the world’s first integrated database and design system for antibody sequences and 3D structures and AbysisProprietary allows companies to build an in-house version that also stores proprietary data. Key functionality includes standardised numbering, feedback on humanness and suggested position-specific residue substitutions to improve human like qualities.
